Wing Chun

Wing Chun/Wing Tsun is a martial art founded around 1650 after the fall of the Ming Dynasty ( 1644) from
the former style of Weng Chun. This style was revolutionized by 5 masters and completely worked over to
its most effective state of art.

At this time all styles of Quanshu (this term is used to describe all weaponless martial arts)went through
a state of martyrdom.  In ancient China martial art masters were leaders of secret societies in the resistance
movement.  The government hunted them and sometimes even killed them.

Because of this situation the Wing Chun masters only taught their new developed ingenious knowledge only
in secret and to very small groups. In this time the method of teaching did not warrant a structure because
the disciple lived with the master.  The teaching was customized to the individual students learning ability.

In the USA and Europe Wing Chun became in the 1980'ties available to a broader audience and the different
groups used different spellings of this martial art.

Visits of different grand masters to the new founded organizations could not prevent that mistakes' found
its way into the teachings because of at that moment missing teaching structure. This resulted in that big
parts of the knowledge from the time of the martial arts founding was lost.

The 30 years of experience by Sifu Martin Hofmann and the never ending patience of our teachers and
students in testing the fundamentals of this martial art contributed to the rediscovery of the pure application
according to the laws of physics and to reality in its most effective form.

The founding of a complete updated Wing Chun/ Wing Tsun system emerged: "The art of the warrior".
